Learn how to use StudyBuddy to view your grades, track assignments, and plan ahead with What-If mode.

What is StudyBuddy?

StudyBuddy is a modern, user-friendly interface for viewing your Schoology grades. Instead of navigating through Schoology's complex interface, StudyBuddy presents your academic information in a clean, organized way that makes it easy to:

  • See all your course grades at a glance
  • View detailed category breakdowns and assignment grades
  • Track assignment due dates with a visual calendar
  • Calculate "what-if" scenarios to plan your grades
  • Quickly identify which assignments need your attention

Important: StudyBuddy connects directly to your Schoology account. We don't store your password or permanently save your grade data. Everything is loaded fresh from Schoology each time you visit.

StudyBuddy is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Schoology or PowerSchool.

Important: What-If calculations are done entirely in your browser and are never sent to Schoology or saved anywhere. Your real grades remain unchanged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to log in with Schoology?

StudyBuddy needs permission to access your grades from Schoology. We use OAuth, which is the same secure login system used by apps like Gmail and Facebook. Your password stays with Schoology - we never see it.

Is my password stored?

No, absolutely not. We use OAuth authentication, which means you log in directly on Schoology's website. We only receive a temporary access token that lets us read your grades. We never see or store your password.

Are my grades stored permanently?

No. We cache your grades for up to 5 minutes to make the app faster, then they're deleted. Every time you visit, we fetch fresh data from Schoology. When you log out, everything is cleared immediately.

Why aren't all my courses showing?

StudyBuddy only shows courses that have grades available in Schoology. If a course doesn't appear, it might be because:

  • The teacher hasn't posted any grades yet
  • The course is not set up for grading in Schoology
  • You're not enrolled as a student in that course

How often does data refresh?

Your grades are cached for 5 minutes. After that, the next time you view a course, we'll fetch fresh data from Schoology. You can also manually refresh at any time by clicking the refresh button or pulling down on the page.

Do What-If calculations affect my real grades?

No, never. What-If mode is completely local to your browser. Nothing is sent to Schoology or saved anywhere. Your actual grades in Schoology remain completely unchanged. Think of it as a calculator for planning purposes only.

Can teachers see that I'm using StudyBuddy?

No. When you use StudyBuddy, we're just reading your grades from Schoology. Teachers cannot see that you're using StudyBuddy or what you're doing with the What-If calculator.

How do I revoke StudyBuddy's access to my Schoology account?

You can log out of StudyBuddy at any time by clicking your profile icon and selecting "Sign out". To permanently revoke access, go to your Schoology settings, find "App Center" or "Connected Apps", and remove StudyBuddy from the list.
